What is SAC?
The School Advisory Council’s (SAC) is comprised of the school principal, parents, teachers, education support employees, parents, and business and community representatives with the primary purpose of serving in an advisory capacity to the principal to improve education, school policies and procedures and create a formal line of communication between the school, home and community.
What does the SAC do?
SAC gathers to discuss the school’s academic plan and progress. They discuss the School Improvement Plan (SIP) - a plan made of goals and objectives established for the school determined by needs. The purpose of the SIP is to increase student performance. SAC assists the school principal with budget and recommendation on how school monies are spent or allocated.
How can parents become involved in SAC?
Parents are encouraged to attend the monthly SAC meeting. Members of SAC consists of teachers, education support employees, parents. The parent group shall be representative of the ethnic, racial and economic community served by the school and are elected by their respective peer group. To vote you must be a voting member on the SAC Board. If you are interested in joining SAC or would like more information regarding meetings, please email: [email protected]
